Look For Less

Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains what information the Look For Less app collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.

Who we are

Look For Less is run by Sean Gillies, a sole trader based in the UK. Sean is the "controller" of your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

The short version

What we collect and why

InformationWhy we use itHow long we keep it
Photos you search with, including screenshots and photos taken with the camera To identify the item and find similar products. The photo is sent to our search partners (see below). Deleted from our storage as soon as the search finishes, normally within two minutes.
Shop links you share into the app To fetch the product photo from that page so you can search with it. Not stored after the photo has been fetched.
Search choices: men's or women's, item type, size and budget To show relevant results. Not stored after the search.
Search results, linked to a one-way fingerprint of the photo (not the photo itself) So searching the same photo again is quicker and doesn't use up another search. 24 hours.
A guest ID: a random ID created when you first open the app To apply the daily search limit fairly and stop misuse. Until you delete the app or create an account.
Search counts: how many searches an ID made on each day To apply daily and monthly search limits. Up to 12 months.
Account details: your email address and password (stored only in scrambled, "hashed" form) To create your account, sign you in and help you reset your password. Until you delete your account.
Saved finds: the product name, shop, price, picture link and web link of items you save So you can come back to them later. Until you remove them or delete your account.
Emails you send us To answer your question. As long as needed to help you, then up to 2 years.

We don't collect your name, location, contacts or payment card details. If we offer a paid subscription in future, payments will be handled by Apple or Google, and we will only receive confirmation that you've subscribed.

Our legal reasons

Who we share information with

We use trusted service providers to run the app. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or if Look For Less is ever sold or transferred to a new owner, who would have to look after it in the same way.

Information sent outside the UK

Some of our providers process information outside the UK, including in the European Union and the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the protections UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US "data bridge") or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Shops and other websites

Results link to other shops' websites. When you tap a result, the shop's own privacy policy applies, not ours. Some links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy something. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and it doesn't change which results we show you.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Email hello@lookforless.co.uk to use any of these rights. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

Look For Less isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Information is encrypted while it travels between the app and our servers. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app.
